After studying fashion and textile design in the United States and France, Cypriot designer Erotokritos Antoniadis returned to his home country to create his eponymous label in 1996. His chic urban style is always imbued with a certain relaxation and attitude, which he showcases through his collections each season at Paris Fashion Week.
All Erotokritos collections are designed and created in Nicosia, using superior European yarns and fabrics and skilled local artisans to produce the brand’s line of knitwear and woven pieces. The island, with its rich cultural background, has a long tradition in textiles and fine workmanship.
Translated from French, the creator speaks about his brand and inspiration:
How did you get started in fashion?
I've always loved fashion, but chose to study art first to develop strong visual concepts. After four years at an art school in the U.S., I was ready to study fashion in Paris.
How would you define your style?
Consistent, fresh and a little nostalgic.
A few words about this collection...
It started in a staggered grunge style. In the completed look, I think it looks rather chic grunge.
What are you most proud of?
Creating a collection 2 times a year is a lot of work. I am proud to have created a new collection.
Where do you manufacture your products?
The collection is crafted in my home country, Cyprus, in small shops in town. I work with the same people for almost 15 years.
If your brand was a music, a movie, a cocktail...
Probably the French film "Contempt" by Godard, or Antonioni’s Italian drama "La Notte".
