Bring On the Pinstripe & Lace

Bring On the Pinstripe & Lace

Scene: Manayunk, Pennsylvania

There are so many trends that we are adoring this season. Some are classic - could we ever tire of crop tops, florals, rompers and the cool easy vibes that come with all things festival-inspired? We think not. And then we have our in-the-moment fashion fixations, which could be a color, pattern or print (pineapples and palms, anyone?) - that given enough airtime, are blasted to a whole new dimension of what's cool and trending.

The pinstripe has made its debut in many a collection this season, both in the U.S. and abroad; we've seen it prevail in some of our own collections as well. Greek designer Madame Shou Shou incorporated the preppy print in a range of their airy dresses and billowing skirts (one of which is styled below!), while Mehtap Elaidi of Turkey used it in combination with frills, ruffles and tulle to draw you in with their unique take on the feminine silhouette. The print also came out to play in the beautifully handcrafted line of leather shoes by Lolo the Ballerina of Belgium. Think copper pinstripe ballet slippers and and metallic navy t-strap flats that romance you with their impeccable design and craftsmanship. All three international collections are available in our e-shop!

Philadelphia based blogger, Davida of Vida Fashionista joined us for a recent photoshoot, and effortlessly styled this pinstripe and lace look that we love so much! The Lapelle Dress features a soft blue pinstripe and lace detailing (pay mind to the dreamy back of the dress where the lace is sheer enough to see skin! #HelloSummer), trumpet sleeves and belt to accentuate the waist. She accessorized with a silk scarf, oversized shades, wedges and pearl earrings, while channeling the laid-back, easy vibes of summer.

As far as accessories go, we've determined that a silk scarf can lend even the most 'shabby chic' of looks a little polish. If you've typically shied away from scarves because you're not quite sure how to style them - now's the time for experimentation! Consider tying yours into a dainty little bow at the neck, fashioning it in the hair like a headband or wrapping it around the wrist like a cuff. Or if not for yourself, use it to accessorize your handbag! Scarves can lend color (and dress up) a simple, neutral colored top handle. Davida is styling the beautiful Pegasus Silk Scarf by Greek designer Grecian Chic. Did you know that each scarf is hand-illustrated and digitally printed on pure silk in London? Even better - each print is limited edition, and only 50 pieces of each design will ever be reproduced. This definitely makes our list of top investment pieces.

We are particularly excited by the mini barrel bag that Davida is styling in this look, as it is from our new Swarovski crystal studded collection. While you may have come to know and love our vibrant selection of barrel bags by Athens-based Vice Versa, the mini version (these come in TWO sizes) are now available with a little extra embellishment - perfect for styling to a wedding, special occasion or a simply for a fancy night out. Davida took our 'My Passport' Barrel Bag in White out for a stroll. Explore the full range of colors in our e-shop!

Wedges are a popular choice for summer, and we love the ones Davida is styling. Swap them out for ballet flats or sandals if you're looking to feel a little more grounded in your look. We also can't get enough of her oversized shades and pearl stud earrings - a great compliment to the scarf if you're opting for dressier with your final look.

What do you think of this look? xx
